The ASIGMA Career Trajectory

AATP Boot Camp

The ASIGMA Analyst Training Program (AATP) offers one an introduction to the world of investment & business analysis and research. AATP is an intensive entry-level competencies development program designed to equip recent graduates and entry-level professionals with the requisite orientation required for entry-level effectiveness at ASIGMA.

ASIGMA gives you the skills and knowledge to have that competitive edge that separates you from the rest.

Analyst

From a foundational knowledge perspective, an Analyst should possess some technical aptitude. At ASIGMA, Analysts start their careers with projects and therefore are expected to have analytical techniques while leaning heavily on support from Senior Analysts to help them think through which techniques are most appropriate for each project. Mentoring is also provided to support and enhance learning.

When evaluating potential candidates for this role, the foundational skills become more important than the actual knowledge the person possesses. The skills necessary to be successful as an Analyst are difficult to measure and even more difficult to teach so it is particularly important to evaluate individuals carefully.

Critical skills needed:
Ability to negotiate, Critical thinking, Ability to facilitate meetings, Analytical ability, Collaboration, Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).

Associate

As one matures in his or her career, the expectations should change. You would expect an individual to gain a deeper understanding of the business environment they are serving as well as maturity in their ability to apply new and varied analytical techniques. By the time one has 2 years of experience they should have the ability to be deployed on new projects, assess the needs of the project, recommend how to approach the project; including who to elicit information from, what techniques to utilize, and how long it should take.

Critical skills needed: Increase business knowledge; Action oriented; Leadership; Ability to escalate issues appropriately; Present information for decision making purposes with little to no direction; Increased acumen for planning; Strong time management skills; Ability to multi-task i.e., managing multiple projects.

Senior Associate

In addition to all the knowledge and skills mentioned above, at the Senior Associate level, you would begin to see or should see a resource that is helping to drive the business analysis practice, mentoring others, and strong problem-solving ability. Other skills needed at this level are a high degree of professionalism, and the ability to easily balance the big picture (or strategic vision) of the organization with the day-to-day operations (or projects).

Critical skills needed:
Ability to escalate issues appropriately; Present information for decision making purposes with little to no direction; Increased acumen for planning; Leadership; Ability to multi-task i.e., managing multiple projects.
